Rob van Essen
Rob van Essen (1963) is the bestselling, multi-award-winning author of more than a dozen novels and short-story collections. Ever since his debut, he has been praised for his imagination and individuality. He won the Libris Literature Prize twice – for The Good Son (2019) and I’ll Come Back to This Later (2024).
Fiction

His breakthrough was the autobiographical sci-fi novel De goede zoon (The Good Son, 2018), which earned the prestigious Libris Literature Award and became a bestseller. In 2015, his short-story collection Hier wonen ook mensen (People Live Here Too), received the J.M.A. Biesheuvel Prize. The Big Clean-Up is his newest novel, which is again wonderfully absurd.
