Chrisis a true leader, and leaders tell other people what to do. After all, leaders know everything. If the other mice want to find delicious bananas, all they have to do is follow him. At least, that’s what Chris thinks.
The mice get more and more worn out, and it becomes clear that following someone else’s orders doesn’t always work. When one day Chris steps onto a boat, expecting the other mice to swim after him, they decide enough is enough. They’re not going to follow him into the water and let him drift away. Left on his own, Chris doesn’t feel like the leader anymore. He finally realises that you are much stronger together!
After illustrating books by other authors, Liset Celie makes her writing debut with this picture book. Celie’s illustrations and writing share a clear, light style that vividly conveys the mice’s emotions. Follow Me! is a fast-paced picture book and great fun, entertaining and adventurous.

Liset Celie graduated from the HKU University of the Arts Utrecht in 2016. She loves to explore and capture the magic of daily life, and does so with a great sense of humour. Her illustrations are bright and minimalist with an old-school charm. She draws her inspiration from handmade toys, children’s art, vintage book covers… and children themselves. Working with them taught her how to improvise and turn literally everything into a bright and colourful rainbow. Liset has illustrated books by Jan Paul Schutten and Anke Kranendonk. 'Follow Me!' is her debut as a picture book author. She lives and works in Utrecht.
